Welcome to the Lions Clubs of Stowmarket and District and Bury St Edmunds. This website promotes the work we do in supporting local charities, local causes and individuals within our local community.

It also promotes businesses within our local community who support us through advertising on the website. Every penny we receive through advertising revenue goes to support the fund raising activities of the Lions Clubs of Stowmarmarket & District and Bury St Edmunds.

We have also created an online High Street where every purchase made through this website generates a commission and all that commission goes to St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Last year Stowmarket & District Lions Club and Bury St Edmunds Lions Club raised over £50,000 for local charities serving the local community. For a flavour of some of the fundraising activities we arrange please click here

"The Suffolk Villages bike ride was one of the best organised, signed and marshalled I have been on this year. Congratulations to everyone involved in giving their time in the run-up and on the day to ensure it ran so smoothly. I was on my own doing the 100k but rode at times with generously-spirited cyclists offering me their slip stream on some open windy stretches! It was a stunning route through beautiful villages and countryside with bananas and cakes just when needed. Thank you all"

With over 46,000 clubs and 1.35m members worldwide Lions International is the largest Service club organisation raising funds and providing voluntary hands-on community work on a local and global scale.

Explains Branch Secretary Marie Compain, “Our core membership was established by a social network of friends and neighbours and now we are hoping to attract active and enthusiastic members from all over Bury and the surrounding villages to join us in our efforts. Despite the challenging economic conditions, there is still a strong spirit of generosity throughout the region and we would like to thank everyone who has supported us so far.”

With a strong emphasis on fun the Lions already have a wide range of fund-raising activities planned for 2013 which are intended to continue the Lions tradition of community support and providing much needed assistance to worthy local causes.

The Lions welcome members of all ages and from all walks of life. Anyone interested in joining or helping from time to time can contact the Bury Lions Club by completing your details on our webpage
